Manufacturers are starting to get a little out of hand with some of their specifications; Acer's new 24-inch display has a reported 8000000:1 contrast ratio. There's no mention of what the static contrast ratio is, yet.
The new S243HL is interesting in that it offers 24 inches of display, but at the more traditional resolution of 1920x1200, not the more recent 1920x1080 resolution that's become popular after the rise of HDTV sales. Unlike some of the high fidelity panels we've seen companies releasing lately, the new Acer display is built around the standard TN+ panel - meaning low color reproduction but high refresh rates.

Specifications:
Acer worked to make this new display noticeable by getting it down to just 14mm (0.55in) thick and sticking it to a pretty noticeable display. Part of the reason it's so thin is that Acer used a white LED backlighting system in this model, as opposed to the less expensive and more common CCFL with its thicker ballast. The monitor will launch in Europe first; there's no official on price at this time.
