AMD releases Athlon II X2 and Phenom II X2 ProcessorsWhile the technology industry is concentrated on Computex this week in Taipei, AMD is taking the opportunity to introduce four new processors: two dual-core processors, and one each tri-core and quad-core processors. The first of the new dual-core CPUs is the Athlon II X2 250, a next-generation successor to the Athlon X2 processor. AMD removed the L3 cache from this chip, but added 1MB of L2 for each core. The new processor is built on a 45nm process and has a TDP of 65 watts, making it an attractive option for consumers who want a powerful chip that isn't too hard on their pocketbooks. It will sell for $87 per chip. Interestingly, AMD has also built in the low-power C1E state directly into the chip instead of relying on the BIOS.

Lately, though, the OEM has been trying to reinvent some of their products to take a bite out of the consumer market, and the new all-in-one Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 is definitely a departure from the norm.
